Aaron Viles is the Deputy Director of the Gulf Restoration Network, Voodoo’s long-time non-profit partner. In the wake of last summer’s BP drilling disaster, GRN’s work to unite and empower people to protect and restore the Gulf has become even more urgent. Aaron has advocated for the Gulf and its defense via all media including USA Today, NY Times, NBC News, PBS Newshour, CNN as well as in testimony in front of Congress. Aaron will be leading a tour of oil-damaged wetlands for Voodoo artists and organizing a press-conference sounding the call for Congress to pass a law to use BP’s clean water act fines to restore the Gulf, sending the message that without the wetlands of the Mississippi River delta, there’s no New Orleans, no NOLA music, and no Voodoo. You can check out GRN’s work at their demonstration wetlands at the beginning of Voodoo’s non-profit area. Nearly as passionate about live music as he is about the Gulf, here are the top five acts he looks forward to catching this weekend:
1. Soundgarden
3. Blind Pilot
