The Voodoo Experience is a 3-day music and arts festival held every Halloween weekend in City Park located in New Orleans, LA. It has established itself as one of the most diverse music festivals in the US since its beginning 12 years ago. 2012 will mark the 14th anniversary of the “Ritual.” Those familar with the festival have grown to worship the various areas and their french-inspired names. The festival is separated into 4 distinct areas: Le Ritual, Le Plur, Le Flambeau and Le Carnival. Each area was designed to showcase the unique personalities of the festival and New Orleans. “Le Ritual” features more mainstream music, “Le Plur” features Electronic/Dance, “Le Flambeau” features sounds consistent with the hometown style of the Big Easy, and “Le Carnival” features indie bands, burlesque, and circus acts. This year we’ve added a new area to the festival that will feature carnival rides and a new music stage, Deja Voodoo.
If you think that’s a lot to experience in 3 days, don’t forget to check out the large-scale exhibition composed of a series of interactive, art installations scattered throughout City Park. This year’s exhibition will be curated by Stefan Beese and Voodoo founder and producer Stephen Rehage. As in the previous year, 2011′s exhibition will feature a celebrated group of both local and international artists.
